What do you wish?

***Wish is followed by past tense forms but refers to the present.

Fact:
I don't like my job.

Wish:
I wish (that) I could find a better job.
I wish I worked somewhere else.

Fact:
I live with my parents.

Wish:
I wish I lived in my own apartment.
I wish I didn't live with my parents.

Fact:
Life is difficult.

Wish:
I wish it were easier.
I wish it weren't so difficult.

***After wish, were is used with I, he, she, and it.
